Diamond fluorescence is a normal natural phenomena of diamonds. The cause of diamond fluorescence are because of tiny traces of other natural earth elements. The fluorescence of a diamond can be see in the presence of ultra violet light. Not all diamonds have diamond fluorescence. In the case of fluorescence with natural color diamonds, it can increase or decrease the value of a diamond. Diamond fluorescence can come in different fluorescent colors, pink, blue, white, yellow, green, orange, and red. If the color of the diamond fluorescence matches or enhances the primary color of the diamond, the value of the stone is increased. This can still be the case even if the fluorecense causes the stone to look hazy. For example, a Fancy Brownish Yellow diamond with yellow fluorecense of any strength would add to the strength of the primary color. On the other hand, if the stone is a Fancy yellow with a blue fluorecense, it can lower the value of the stone. In the case of rare colors and the same color of fluorecense and a big enough size then that is a very sought after combination. Fluorecense is also a fun factor to the diamond that can alter its color in different lighting and can be a unique identity of your diamond. Blue is the most common fluorescent color in diamonds, while pink, red and orange are the rarest.
